Admirers of the Hanse 410 will be able to cruise aboard the exciting new design in the Whitsundays
Since its World Premiere last year the new Hanse 410 has been winning praise and collecting award nominations, the latest named as one of SAIL’s Top 10 Best Boats for 2025.
According to the SAIL judges the 410 benefits from its shared Berret-Racoupeau design DNA of the Hanse 510 and Hanse 460.
“For this boat to have the same sprightly sailing chops as the [Hanse 510] while delivering a supremely comfortable, spacious layout below was impressive. It’s a lot of thoughtful, fun boat for 41 feet,” noted SAIL Editor-in-Chief Wendy Mitman.
SAIL’s walk-around video shows-off the 410’s spacious dimensions, including the full bow shape which means more room in the large Owners cabin that features an island double berth and very well-appointed en-suite.

All this is good news for Johan, Owner of the first Hanse 410 sold by Windcraft and due in Australia in the first half of next year.
He tells Windshift he settled on the 410 after deciding to get back into sailing after a longer than intended hiatus. “I saw the boat and it just looked and felt like the right size for me in terms in terms of what I want to do for charters,” Johan reveals.
He plans to base the Hanse 410 at Airlie Beach and offer various cruising packages exploring the Whitsundays, Australia’s world-class tropical cruising ground described by SAIL as “nothing short of spectacular—and with anchorages for all kinds of weather, it is very easy to sail here.”
“For me the best moment is pulling-up at a new destination,” Johan relates. “Drop the anchor there’s nothing else except the lap of water against the hull, you crack open a drink and relax – that’s the favourite time on any trip,” he says.
Johan’s guests will no doubt appreciate the 410’s generous proportions courtesy of the boat’s reverse bow, a hint of reverse sheer and a pronounced knuckle above the waterline forward that maximises space below decks. According to Yachting Monthly “this is a 40-footer that’s bigger down below than many 45s of the relatively recent past.”
Johan will be able to accommodate six people in comfort in the 410’s three double cabins, plus the seating in the saloon converts to another double berth, boosting overnight numbers to seven or eight if required.
Whoever is fortunate to secure the Owner’s cabin the bow will enjoy plenty of natural ventilation with no fewer than five opening hatches, relax on the island double berth and feel fresh and clean courtesy of the well-appointed en-suite. If you choose the 410’s alternative two-cabin layout, you can ditch the head here (using the head and shower aft) and have a vanity, desk, and extra storage instead.
Guests staying in the two generous aft cabins on Johan’s 410 will share the second bathroom to starboard with separate shower stall. There’s plenty of room for everyone in the dining area to port in the saloon with sofa to starboard. A versatile table has hinge-up leaves, a pop-up bottle store, and integrated bar. The L-shaped galley with top and front access to the fridge and soft-close drawers is to port as you come down the companionway.
Like all cruising yachts operating in warm climates, the cockpit will be the social focus and the 410’s expansive cockpit is a study in thoughtful ergonomics with easy access through to the large natural teak swim platform with stairs.
Johan has opted for twin tables with teak tops, electrically lowerable into sunbeds which should be perfect for relaxing around as the sun sinks over anchorages such as Bauer Bay on South Molle Island or Nara Inlet on Hook Island. Rated by many as the best anchorage in the Whitsundays, Nara is a deep, fiord-like inlet stretching three kilometres with steep, heavily wooded sides and waterfalls that cascade into the inlet after rains.
Of course, the elemental pleasure derived from the act of sailing itself, feeling the boat react to the power of the wind and surge forward with a bow wave is one of the best experiences of any charter. Here the 410’s flexible sail plan of self-tacking jib, fully-battened main with in-line reefing and a gennaker package, all from Elvstrom will ensure spirited sailing with very little hassle.
Johan intends to also offer twilight cruises out of Airlie Beach and potentially packages to coincide with the extremely popular Airlie Beach and Hamilton Island Race Weeks. Whatever the charter configuration and requirements we’re confident the Hanse 410 will exceed expectations thanks to its combination of class leading space above and below decks, pleasing performance and premium appointments.
