The Contest 55CS stands as an icon in the mid-50-foot yacht range, offering a unique blend of performance and luxury. This elegant bluewater cruiser embodies all the refinement of larger superyachts in a perfectly manageable size, combining advanced sailing ease and comfort for global exploration.
Designed with input from Judel/Vrolijk & Co, the 55CS has a hydrodynamic hull that provides remarkable upwind performance, stability, and reduced heeling. Drawing design cues from the Contest 85CS and 67CS, the Contest 55CS features a sweeping coach roof and an expansive twin-cockpit layout that are visually striking and practically designed. All primary sailing controls are strategically located near the aft helm stations, creating a dedicated, unobstructed lounge area for guests, making the yacht equally functional for solo or small-crew sailing.
Sailing configurations are highly customisable, with options for carbon or aluminium spars, cutter or sloop rigs, and in-mast or slab reefing, alongside a carbon sprit with integral furling for downwind sails. Decking is finished in sustainably sourced, vacuum-bonded teak, providing a durable, luxurious surface for safe movement. At anchor, the transom hydraulically folds down, transforming into a spacious bathing platform for water activities and tender launch from the grand tender garage.
The Contest 55CS’s interior is a hallmark of spacious, thoughtful design by Wetzels Brown Partners, made possible through Contest’s unique vacuum infusion and carbon reinforcement technology. This process not only delivers structural integrity but opens up the remarkable interior volume, allowing for airy spaces usually reserved for much larger yachts.
In the aft, the master suite features an innovative wide transom window, filling the space with natural light and offering panoramic views over the water. The saloon is broad and light-filled, with options for fore cabin glazing and large hull windows that further enhance the open feel. The galley is a two-sided, fully equipped space that’s ideal for extended stays, with ample storage and premium fixtures.
Throughout, custom handholds and ergonomic cabinetry ensure that safety is seamlessly integrated into the design. Owners can personalise materials, furnishings, and layout options, reflecting Contest’s semi-custom construction ethos.
With Volvo Penta 110kW propulsion, a 2.55m draft, and 850L fuel and 725L water capacities, the Contest 55CS is built for long-range cruising in ultimate comfort. This yacht combines technical excellence, luxury, and the freedom to create a truly personalised ocean-going home.
