Though we are in the depths of winter, plan your summer escapes now aboard the RYCK 280.
Windcraft is offering a near-new highly specc’d RYCK through its Brokerage division. This RYCK would be perfect for enjoying a long lunch off your favourite beach or lazing in the shade after a refreshing swim, cool drink in hand. As the summer sun sets you can choose to zip back to a berth, or stay out overnight on your own stylish, comfortable and versatile 9.16 metre (30 ft), centre-console boat.
Since its launch in 2022 the Bill Dixon designed RYCK 280 has won many coverts to the day boating lifestyle with its combination of distinctive lines, dynamic performance, good sea-handling, quality appointments, safe walk-around decks, and genuine weekender credentials.
The German built RYCK 280 also continues to impress with its savvy use of space, offering room for up to eight people across three deck spaces including a large, shaded cockpit with comfortable lounge and removable table at the stern, a bow lounge with twin sunbeds and the well-laid out helm area with its nicely stitched helm chairs.
At 8.8 metres or nearly 29 feet with a draft of 0.91 metres with the big Mercury Verado engine down or 0.58 metres with the engine up, plus a fast cruising speed of 30 knots this RYCK 280 has proved an ideal boat for accessing Moreton Bay with its huge 3,400 square kilometres of waterways and more than 360 islands.
Elevating the RYCK above its rivals in this category is its forward cabin with generous double vee-berth, plus infills to make a queen-sized bed. To starboard is a separate toilet with hand basin and storage cupboard. To port of the steps is a galley cabinet for a microwave.
Underway, the RYCK 280’s twin-stepped hull with reverse bow easily gets onto the plane powered by the powerful Mercury 350hp Verado engine, controlled by Mercury’s incredibly smooth digital throttle and shift (DTS). Top speed is an exhilarating 40 knots, but the RYCK has a range of well over 100 nautical miles at 25-26 knots.

According to the Owner the RYCK’s twin-step hull does exactly what it was designed for – undertaking fast, safe passages in sometimes challenging conditions.
“The RYCK is for getting places quickly, and it does that, even when the swell is running,” he reports when asked about the nasty chop that Moreton Bay can produce. “For my wife it’s about getting to the destination, for me it’s both that’s why I sail as well,” he explains. “I have three kids and quite a few grandkids and the RYCK can take everybody out in comfort, we can picnic or even beach the boat if you pay the right attention to the tides,” he continues.
This model RYCK features a number of very desirable upgrades including synthetic teak on the side decks and in the cockpit and swim platform, two Isotherm drawer fridges for entertaining, a bow thruster for push button maneouvring, as well as a waterski arch.
The RYCK 280 offers a rare combination of providing a fast and safe platform for enjoying leisure activities such as diving, kayaking, wake-boarding, water-skiing and fishing and the ability to relax back on board afterward in comfort and style. That kind of versatility makes the RYCK 280 the perfect passport to fun this summer.
