A sensational new Fjord 480 is on the way which will be available in two versions and capable of 45 knots.
We’d been eagerly awaiting images of the new Fjord 480 and now we have them.
Renders released by the factory show the Marco Casali design features a plumb bow and high bulwarks, representing an evolution of the signature design DNA Fjord is known and appreciated for by discerning motor yacht buyers and enthusiasts all over the world. With an LOA of 14.6 metres or 47ft 11in, a generous maximum beam of 4.57m or 15ft, and a large T-top the Fjord 480 will project an imposing and stylish dockside presence.
The Fjord 480 Open is optionally powered by two Volvo Penta IPS 800 engines with a top speed of up to 34 knots, while the Fjord 480 Sport will harness the output of three Mercury Verado V12 outboards with a combined 1,800 hp, delivering a top speed of up to 45 knots.
The 480 also features folding side balconies for greater access to the water – a first for Fjord. The expansive T-top, an impressive feat of engineering in itself, provides shade and the spacious deck dimensions and walkaround design ensure freedom of movement.
Wide and deep walkaround decks protected by solid bulwarks run forward from the swim platform all the way up to the foredeck, which offers bow seating and a large sunpad.
The large aft cockpit is divided into three distinct spaces. The helm/navigation area up front consists of four pilot seats, divided into pairs either side of a companionway that’s slightly offset to port. Amidships there’s a well-equipped outside galley, then aft of that is a C-shaped dinette that can have either one big table or two smaller ones.
A sliding backrest can also be used to convert the forward edge of the sunpad into another forward-facing bench. Fold-down sections of the bulwarks also opens up the deck space for a relaxed beach club vibe.
Modular construction means there will be plenty of options below deck. The bow area can be configured as an aft-facing double berth with or without a bulkhead to make it into a separate cabin, or left open plan with a vee-shaped dinette that converts to a double berth when required.
The aft cabin has a forward-facing double and again can be left open or closed off with a bulkhead and door. Between them and the companionway stairs, Owners can opt for either separate or combined head and shower cubicles.
Big hull windows also promise plenty of natural light in each cabin.
There will be a choice of inboard IPS propulsion, either twin 550hp Volvo Penta IPS700s or 600hp IPS800s.
Fjord’s template for a fast, open plan design with a high-quality fit-out has imitators but the brand’s signature distinctive looks, combined with luxury, comfort and engineering to match have ensured it continues to set the bar in this category and it looks as though the Fjord 480 will be no exception.
Slotting in between the Fjord 44 and the flagship Fjord 53, the Fjord 480 will be formally released later in the year.
