Following on from two recent prestigious awards, European Yacht of the Year and one of SAIL magazine’s Top 10 Best Boats for 2025, the Hanse 360 continues to win praise from the boating press.
The reasons are pretty simple: the 360 offers extremely spacious internal dimensions for a yacht its size, and it’s fun and fast to sail. A tweaked version of the 360, the Hanse 360 ST is on the way and will have its World Premiere next month.
In his review of the Hanse 360, Theo Stocker from Yachting Monthly summed up the new cruiser’s appeal this way:
Sailors wanting a proper sailing boat that’s fun to sail and will give rewarding cruising, could do well to look at this boat. Even by the voluminous standards of new boats these days, you’ll be impressed with the size of the internal spaces.
In common with other reviewers, Theo recognised the benefits of the Hanse 360’s acclaimed design heritage with Berret-Racoupeau and especially how the hull’s volume is facilitated by a mix of hard and soft chines that bring the generous beam forward above the waterline but maintains a relatively narrower hull shape below. The configuration translates into an extra roomy bow Owner’s cabin.
The forward cabin is vast for a 35ft hull, with a full-sized centreline double berth, with reading lights and hull windows at the forward end making this a pleasant space in which to wake up. If you opt for the second heads in this cabin, the bed remains almost the same size but is skewed to starboard, and you lose the port hanging locker, but this may be worth it for the additional privacy.
Windshift has been very keen to get some first-hand intel and numbers on the 360’s performance. We’ve spoken with Inspiration Marine in the UK who took the 360 out on a breezy day and had this to say about its sailing ability.
“We had a full main, and it was blowing 18-20 knots of true wind. It (the Hanse 360) just picked up its heels and felt a lot like a Dehler; good acceleration, pointing ability, and a nice turn of speed. We were easily doing 30 degrees apparent and when a gust came through it didn’t overreact, there was no excess heeling. Even downwind with just the main and the (self-tacking) jib, we were sailing at about 160 degrees, the 360 was doing just over nine knots. It’s a super rewarding boat to sail.”

The Yachting Monthly test took place in 16-18 knots of true breeze, and they stuck with a full jib and mainsail most of the time, even as the apparent wind nudged over 22 knots at times.
According to Theo, the 360 proved more than capable of achieving its goals.
“The boat’s polars certainly have the boat at 5.7 knots on the wind and nudging 8 knots on a close reach or reach and this wouldn’t seem unreasonable. Twenty years or so ago, a high-volume boat with a single rudder might have been prone to broaching; not so the Hanse 360. The wide bow helps keep the stern in the water when heeled, and the deep rudder being almost keel depth meant that we didn’t lose grip even when pushing hard, including bearing away with the sails sheeted in hard.”

The Hanse 360 is available in a standard two-cabin with a single bathroom/head or alternatively a three-cabin, two-bathroom version.
Either way, the 360’s 3.99-metre beam is carried all the way aft to create a spacious saloon with a nav table, a large galley with optional extra fridges, and plenty of volume for the aft cabins. The port aft cabin can be a deep sail locker/wet space/storage with access from the cockpit that’s also easily capable of storing a decent-sized deflated dinghy.
The starboard aft cabin boasts a 2.05-metre-long double berth and is the slightly bigger aft one in the three-cabin version of the 360. There’s ample natural ventilation thanks to a vertical window that opens into the cockpit and a coach house hatch captures any cooling breeze across the deck.
The cockpit is the heart of any sailing yacht, it’s where the crew spends the majority of their time,e and the Hanse 360 benefits from some standard-setting dimensions here. Relax around an upgraded cockpit table with a Raymarine Axiom 12-inch Chartplotter, Isotherm fridge, handy storage box, and pop-up light. The comfortable cockpit cushions have deep backrests and there’s good access back between the twin wheels to the ample swim platform with a neatly integrated ladder. An external grill can be installed between the two folding helmets.
Like all Hanse yachts, the 360 utilises the brand’s signature self-tacking jib system, as well as having all lines led to the helm station and the option of electric winches, enabling the boat to be effectively sailed by a couple or solo.
