We love the buzz and atmosphere at a boat show, and a steady stream of visitors and great weather set the tone for the 35th Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show.
The show featured the Asia-Pacific premiere of the award-winning Hanse 510 and the big volume luxury cruiser attracted a large number of sailors keen to see for themselves why the 510 has been collecting accolades and praise overseas since its launch last October.
Side-by-side with the Hanse 510 was the Hanse 460, the smaller sibling to the 510 and it was instructive to note their obvious similarities, but also to compare their points of difference; an exercise for another Windshift
SCIBS proved a highly successful showcase for both yachts, with a new Hanse 460 sold that will be delivered to Sydney and its excited Owners by the end of the year.
According to Windcraft’s Managing Director Anthony Bishop the show reflected the strong interest in sailing in Queensland, given it’s the gateway to sublime winter cruising on the Great Barrier Reef and in the Whitsundays.
“We talked to a lot of people and were busy every day,” he reported to SAILS magazine. “Both are fast cruising yachts, suited to couples who want to cruise in comfort. Hanse has spent a lot of time on these models, with a brand new designer, Berret-Racoupeau – French design, German built, which resonates with a lot of people.”
“These are much beamier boats with more space in the cockpit and aft cabins, and bigger living space, whilst retaining their performance,” Anthony explains. “The Hanse 510 on display was bought by a couple who are ex-power boat people and it’s their first sailing yacht. They are planning to sail north and enjoy the east coast of Australia. They’re looking forward to being free from fuel and travelling at a silent, slower pace,” he adds.
If you missed out on seeing the Hanse 510 and the Hanse 460 at Sanctuary Cove don’t worry. Both models, plus a selection from our other sailing brands including Dehler, Solaris and Moody will be available at an event in Sydney in early August, the details to be released very soon.
If you went over the Hanse 460 in detail and you came to a similar conclusion as Yachting Monthly that it was hard to fault, then there’s some good news. There is still one slot available for a 460 with delivery by the end of this year. Coupled with the significant savings tied to our 2024 Fast Lane promotion it represents an exclusive opportunity to be sailing your own 460 this coming summer. For a Hanse 460 over €50,000 in discounts have been applied but this expires on June 30, so there’s no time waste.
The major take-outs from SCIBS for us were as Anthony succinctly puts it: “sailing has lost none of its lustre, in fact, it’s gaining popularity. From visitor feedback, it was heartening to hear how popular sailing is, especially as fossil-fuel burning is being phased out. In Europe, sailing yachts and more environmentally-friendly vessels are enjoying a real resurgence. Boats are headed the way cars are going,” he predicts.
We invite you to come and inspect our range and discuss which boat is right for new at our next event in the near future.
