Fjord 39 XL
Premiering at last year’s Cannes Yachting Festival the Fjord 39 XL has already earnt impressive accolades. According to UK based Adventure Boating Magazine POWERBOAT & RIB the 39 XL is “a top-tier day boat….the fit, finish and engineering are of the highest standard.”
Fjord 39 XL’s deck layout makes best possible use of the boat’s wide 3.87 metre beam with the display model at Cannes featuring three helm seats (option), backing onto a transverse galley, with a large central dinette and an aft sunpad. There are six alternative main deck layouts, revolving around the use of aft benches, a galley and a T-top.
Down below there’s a generous master cabin with a queen berth and en-suite bathroom, with the choice of two lower deck arrangements that subtly tweak the base layout’s bow cabin and starboard heads.
You also get a full-beam aft swim platform with an electric ladder for user-friendly watersports that also provides a safe and stylish way to board from the stern.
The Fjord 39 XL comes standard with twin 320hp Volvo D4 diesels. An optional upgrade sees bigger 440 hp D6 versions installed with DPI Volvo stern drives, delivering heaps of low-down torque and a higher top speed of 42 knots.

Fjord 39 XP
At 11.95 metres the outboard version of the Fjord 39 is slightly longer than its inboard sibling and benefits from substantial extra storage space under the electrically opening sunbed on the aft deck.
Boating discovered the Fjord 39 XP reset perceptions about dayboats:
“When looking at the Fjord 39 XP for the first time, gather up all your preconceived dayboat notions. Then toss them overboard. This is a delightful craft that breaks all the rules and is a fresh breath of dayboat air.”
Veteran U.S. boat writer Chris Caswell who has thousands of boat tests to his credit, was specifically impressed by 39 XP’s maximising of deck space and amenities, all under the large T-top:
“Just forward of the sun bed/dining district is a wide outdoor galley. The Fjord is preplumbed for up to five scattered fridges or ice makers, plus a wine cooler for oenophiles. The galley is owner’s choice: barbecue grill or induction cooktop, with lots of counter space, a big sink, and a lid to hide everything.
Of note, the entire area is shaded by an immense, impeccably molded fiberglass hardtop braced by sturdy curving supports that create a rock-solid sun/rain protector. And the massive windshield stretches from hardtop to dash.”
The 39 XP’s twin 400hp 5.7L V10 Verado’s benefit from smooth petrol power delivery and the BoatingMag reviewers reported 22 knots at 4,000 rpm at the most economical cruising speed for the XP, consuming 27.4 gph or 103.7 lph.
Power and Motoryacht discovered the 39 XP’s stylish and adaptable layout was packed with practical features, as featured in their walk thru video:
Fjord 41 XL
In taking out the 2021 European Powerboat Award in the “Yachts up to 14 metres” class, the Fjord 41 XL showcased a unique combination of performance, comfort and design.
The judges praised the 41 XL for its pioneering modular deck options and the ability to configure nine different deck layouts. The choice ranges from completely open
to a rear sunlounge, a sunlounge and armchair combination, U-shaped lounge and aft-facing armchairs adjacent to the swim platform, or twin U-shaped seats with tables in the centre.
Common to any layout you choose is under-seat storage, a bow lounge, and a wet bar located behind the optional three or four-seat helm station.
A barbecue grill can be added for outdoor entertaining, while cool drinks remain close at hand – in fact, fridges can be (and are) located in seemingly every possible space. Drawer fridges are under the lounges around the tables so you almost never need to leave your seat.
Downstairs, there’s a roomy master cabin in the bow with a double berth, two wardrobes and head with separate shower. A second cabin can be configured with another double berth or as a utility room with the option of an extra sofa and wardrobes.
Club Marine reviewed this innovative and spacious day boat and came away impressed, firstly by the 41 XL’s aesthetics: “military precision in its looks, yet still oozes sports appeal”, and its use of space: “an almost unbelievable amount of space coupled with a thoroughly fun drive.”

In standard configuration the 41 XL is powered by twin Volvo Penta D6-340’s. The upgrade offers twin Volvo Penta D6-440’s boosting performance to a very respectable 38 knots.
The 41 XL’s sporty handling also attracted praise from Dan Jones from Dans BoatLife who put the spectacular deep navy hull (Royal Nights is the colour), through its paces on Sydney Harbour.

Fjord 41 XP
The Fjord 41 XP was the world’s first production yacht to be powered by two 600hp Mercury V12 outboard engines. These revolutionary new duoprop outboards feature two industry firsts – a steerable gear case and a two-speed transmission.
Along with substantial weight and efficiency savings, there’s the prospect of exhilarating performance and excellent manoeuvrability via the joystick controller and lifting the engines allows the XP to nudge right into shore where inboard boats can’t.
The 41 XP’s distinctive T-top and the various windscreen options available provide a good degree of weather protection, while still giving an open-boat feel. The helm arrangement is focused on a central driving position, giving you a good view over either beam.
There is the option to have up to three extra forward-facing helm seats, so the crew can also enjoy a bow-view drive. The ergonomics are good, either sitting or standing, with flip-up bolster seats and a high foot rail offering you good vision from either position. The entire cockpit is shaded by the largest T-top in this class – complete with four sunroofs. Its robust roof pillars are integrated into the bulwarks, providing maximum stability, without encroaching on freedom of movement on the expansive walk-around deck.
The 41 XP’s Owner’s cabin can be furnished with a vanity or desk and can be closed and completely darkened with a soundproof sliding door that is recessed into the bulkhead to save space. The Owner’s cabin, Owner’s bathroom and the optional guest cabin enjoy an abundance of natural light thanks to the large hull windows. A galley or a second toilet are also possible.
Dan Jones described the Fjord 41 XP as stylishly fulfilling every type of day boat activity with the bonus of quiet and assured 40 knot performance.
