Fjord announced the world premiere of the exciting new Fjord 490 last year and in January the factory provided an update for its launch – spring 2025.
Bearing in mind that refers to the European Spring, that means it could be only a matter of months before we see for ourselves this uber-chic new model offering enviable new standards in luxury day boating.
Two impressive variants, Open and Sport, will be available and the Marco Casali design features a plumb bow and high bulwarks, representing an evolution of the signature design DNA Fjord is known and appreciated for by discerning motor yacht buyers and enthusiasts all over the world. With an LOA of 15.32 meters or 50ft 3in, a generous maximum beam of 4.58m or over 15ft, and a large T-top the Fjord 490 will project an imposing and elegant dockside presence.
Both versions boast fold-down side balconies for unfettered access to the water – a first for Fjord and a feature that very much places the 490 in the vanguard of the luxury day boat category. The expansive T-top, an impressive feat of engineering in itself, provides shade and can house solar panels, while the spacious deck dimensions and walkaround design ensure freedom of movement.
Wide and deep walkaround decks protected by solid bulwarks run forward from the swim platform all the way up to the foredeck, which offers generous bow seating and a large sun pad.

Cockpit & Deck
The Fjord 490’s cockpit is divided into three distinct spaces. The helm/navigation area up front consists of a row of four pilot seats, divided into pairs or a bench on either side of a companionway that’s slightly offset to port. Amidships there’s a well-equipped outside galley, then aft of that is a C-shaped dinette that can have either one big table or two smaller ones.
Your guests will quickly appreciate the aft sun pad as the convivial centerpiece on the 490’s spacious open deck layout, With the side balconies down enjoy unobstructed 390-degree water views. Fold up its front section to form a forward-facing bench for socialising around the table. From the other bench at the level of the bathing platform, everyone can soak up the uninterrupted sea views or take in the water sports action.
There is room for all kinds of gear under the fold-up sunpads aft: from a full set of diving equipment and inflatable loungers to cool water toys such as electrically powered SUP boards or seabobs.
Interior
The standard layout for the new Fjord 490 is two double cabins with an optional separating bulkhead. There’s also the option of two private heads with separate showers.
Alternatively, a very comfortable U-shaped seating area can be configured in the bow to create a relaxed, stylish lounge space below deck. In this version, your full-beam 4.58-metre master cabin is located amidships and features a hugely desirable amount of walk-around space around the bed and again can be left open or closed off with a bulkhead and door.
Owners can opt for either separate or combined head and shower cubicles and the starboard side of the lobby can be outfitted with extra storage space if desired.

Hull windows stretching more than 7 meters flood the interior with natural light, enhancing the sense of space and seamless luxury.
Fjord 490 Sport
Powered by three Mercury 600 HP V12 outboard engines, offering a total of 1,800 hp and speeds exceeding 40 knots, the Fjord 490 Sport provides exceptional agility, rapid acceleration, and extended range for exploring both open water and secluded waterways.
The Fjord 490 Sport’s draft of just 0.92 meters (thanks to its outboard configuration), means it can easily nose right into your favorite beach, or access shallow areas out of bounds to deeper draft vessels.
Fjord 490 Open
The FJORD 490 Open benefits from a large hydraulic swim platform for safe and easy access to the water or as a launch pad for toys such as jet skis and kayaks.
The 490 Open is available standard with twin Volvo Penta IPS 700s capable of 31 knots, or 34 knots boosted by twin Volvo Penta IPS 800s.
