The award-winning Hanse 510 will be on display at the Windcraft stand at the 2024 Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show.
The Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show (SCIBS) will be the first chance for many who have been following the overseas release of Hanse’s big-volume luxury family cruiser last October to see for themselves just why the design from French naval architects Berrett-Racoupeau has been attracting praise and accolades from the international boating press including being named winner of SAIL magazine’s coveted Top 10 Best Boats 2024.
According to Wendy Mitman Clark SAIL’s Editor-in-Chief, the 510 assuredly fulfills “the mission of this bigger sister to the highly successful Hanse 460—fast, comfortable cruising, easy sailing, and in this case, more than a little bit of luxury.” And during the test sail with SAIL magazine the 510 returned some pretty impressive numbers – 6.2 knots in about 10 knots true at 78 AWA, accelerating to over 8 knots in a 13-knot puff.
At the heart of the 510’s design is creating as much volume as possible for accommodation and relaxation spaces, and improving sailing characteristics, particularly in light airs. The Hanse 510 on display at SCIBS with its distinctive grey hull will be a highly specc’d three cabin version with a huge Owners cabin in the bow with separate heads and shower compartments and two extremely roomy guest cabins aft.
Other stand-out features of the 510 which should earn high marks from show attendees are the very cool systems console in the saloon that manages critical boat functions and entertainment systems plus the huge tender garage capable of easily housing storing a 2.7-metre RIB or dinghy. Hanse’s innovative tender-lift arm system lifts the tender and engine out of the boat into the water and back again, doing away with the challenge of getting the tender safely off and onto davits.
The Sydney owners of the new 510 have been getting to know their boat and have it perfectly configured for cruising with a long list of options including a North’s gennaker complete with an electric furler for easy miles off the breeze.
In the standard layout of the Hanse 510 there is the Owners cabin forward and two cabins aft but there are many variations; if you add in the crew cabin and the double cabins forward, and the bunk cabin midships starboard you’ve got a boat with six cabins and 11 berths, or even more if you use the saloon.
Other options include adding a third head, a nav station that can double as a home office space; Hanse’s response to the growing trend of working remotely from your boat.
Windcraft are the long-standing Australian and NZ dealers for Hanse Yachts and are looking forward to welcoming admirers of the 510 to their stand.
“We are excited to show sailors how Hanse is utilising technology to enhance every aspect of the yachting experience,” says Anthony Bishop, Windcraft’s Managing Director.
“Fast and efficient push-button furling of headsails, in-mast furling, remote controls, digital systems management – all these developments have enabled boats that previously required a full crew can now be operated and easily handled by just a couple or two people,” he explains. “The Hanse 510 is large and luxurious but controlling and enjoying the boat is so much easier thanks to a suite of new tech tools,” Bishop adds.
The Hanse 510, and the equally acclaimed Hanse 460 will be available for show-goers to inspect on F-arm on the marina at Sanctuary Cove.
