Performance enhancer: Hanse unveils tweaked Hanse 360 ST
Hanse has released a sportier evolution of its new 360 cruiser featuring rig, keel, and deck upgrades for more spirited sailing.
The covers came off the new Hanse 360 ST at the Hamburg Ancora Yacht Festival, Germany’s biggest on-water boat show, late last month.
The model builds on the award-winning Hanse 360 platform with a suite of upgrades for sailors seeking a more dynamic, sportier sailing experience. Designed in collaboration with Berret-Racoupeau, it’s claimed that the Hanse 360 ST delivers up to 10 per cent more
performance thanks to a deeper T-keel, more sail area, a competition rudder, and a taller rig.
That’s complemented by features such as a mainsheet traveller, upgraded winches, black deck fittings, and sport-styled surfaces give the yacht a bold, agile appearance. The ST version retains the full interior flexibility of the original model, but now with exclusive design details like upgraded upholstery and ambient lighting.
According to Andreas Unger, Hanse’s Product Manager, the 360 ST represents a significant step-up for those looking for a more competitive and responsive yacht, but one that still retains core Hanse values.
“The ST version is our answer to sailors who want Hanse simplicity, but with an edge. The
enhancements offer a more athletic sailing experience, while keeping the comfort, layout options, and ease of handling that define the Hanse brand,” he says.
Some of the changes are more than just cosmetic. Hanse are using lightweight PET foam panels in the deck construction, inserting them into the laminate as the core material for the Sport Tourer. In the standard 360, the deck is of a composite structure with a balsa wood core. In addition, a new, high-performance adhesive (High Density) is used to join the 360 ST hull and floor assembly, which should ensure stiffer joints and less weight.
Germany’s leading sailing magazine, Yacht, suggests the biggest boost to the 360 ST’s performance will come courtesy of its taller rig. The mast with Dyform shrouds will be 85 centimetres higher than the 360 ‘s and subsequently carry around 10 per cent more sail area compared to the standard boat with an overlapping genoa.
Pricing for the new Hanse 360 ST is $AUD 602,900, compared to $AUD 521,900 for a standard 360.
However, a special introductory promotion will see a 10 per cent discount applied to all orders taken on the Hanse 360 ST before June 30 so act now to secure a Hanse 360 ST at this special price.
