Fresh from its UK and US premieres Hanse’s exciting new compact family cruiser has been nominated in the Cruising Yacht category in this year’s British Yachting Awards.
The Hanse 360 proved a popular debutante at the Southampton Boat Show, held from 13-22nd October. There were big queues dockside to look over the much-anticipated design that offers class leading space, practical and stylish layout options, a wide range of customisation choices as well as the signature easy sailing features that Hanses are well-known for.
Comments centred around the 360’s extremely spacious internal dimensions that have become a talking point at each boat show. The hull’s volume is facilitated by a mix of hard and soft chines that bring the generous beam forward above the waterline but maintain a relatively narrower hull shape below.
The configuration translates into an extra roomy bow Owner’s cabin that features a large semi walk-around island bed with enough room for double pillows at the forepeak end, a real rarity for a boat in this size category. There’s also the option for an en-suite bathroom here, another feature normally only found on larger models.
Additionally, the 360’s 3.99 metre beam is carried all the way aft to create a large saloon with nav table, large galley with optional extra fridges, and plenty of volume for the aft cabins. The port aft cabin can be a deep sail locker/wet space/storage with access from the cockpit that’s also easily capable of storing a decent sized deflated dinghy.
Including the Hanse 360 on the list of nominees for Cruising Yacht of the Year at the British Yachting Awards the organisers noted:
Hanse Yachts has undergone something of a sea change since they switched from the design company Judel/Vrolijk to Berret/Racoupeau, and the result is a stylish and spacious cruising yacht with many clever touches.
There was more praise from SailingToday which highlighted the 360 as one of its Top 6 new boats at the Southampton show:
Hanse Yachts broke with go to designer of many years Judel/Vrolijk a couple of years back and this was the catalyst behind the launch of a new generation of Hanses designed by the French team of Berret/Racoupeau. In addition to a marked change in styling, with inverted dreadnought bow and hard chines aft giving the boats a more angular look, the main drive seemed to be to up the quality of the boats down below – which was certainly achieved. The new Hanse 360 distils their recent models’ key design features and sleek profile into a yacht under 38′ in length.
The 360 has already garnered two other major awards nominations: one for European Yacht of the Year 2025 award, the other for one of SAIL magazine’s Top 10 Boats for 2025.
The Hanse 360 was unveiled to the US sailing community at the Annapolis Sailboat Show, October 10 – 14. Held in America’s sailing capital on Chesapeake Bay it attracts 100,000 visitors making it arguably the biggest on-water boat show on the planet.
SAIL Magazine was there and posted on social media:
SAIL Managing Editor Lydia Mullan hopped on the new Hanse 360 after the Annapolis Sailboat Show for a breezy and fun test sail. This new Hanse has a plumb bow and a mix of hard and soft chines that translate into sharp performance and piles of comfy space for a boat that’s only 33 feet on the waterline and 36 feet LOA. One of SAIL’s Top 10 Best Boats nominees for 2025, she carved easily upwind in 15 knots true with a self-tacking jib and full main. Stay tuned for Lydia’s full review in an upcoming issue of SAIL.
SAIL has already included the 360 on its list of Top 10 Boats for 2025 noting:
“Remarkably, many of the same features you’ll find on this boat’s big sisters are integrated into this 36-footer. What that means is quick, sporty sailing and accommodations that are rather jaw-dropping for a boat of this size.”
With a dozen possible layout combinations, your Hanse 360 can be tailored to your personal taste and preferences including choices of furniture finishes, interior surfaces and fabrics, floorboards, galley worktops, right down to six colours of cockpit cushions to decide from.
The new Hanse 360 replaces the Hanse 348 and Hanse 388 models which have proved extremely competent family cruisers, capable of coastal passages and bluewater cruising. It appears with her exceptionally high volume at 36 feet in length combined with her practical and stylish appointments the new Hanse 360 is in a class of her own
